Contemporary Residential Landscape Architecture

Integrated landscape architecture — form, function and place.

Alongside our commercial projects, Pollen has, for the past 20 years, provided contemporary landscape design services for new homes and architectural residential developments.

Based in Whanganui a Tara, we work with clients and architects throughout New Zealand integrating architecture, landscape and the special beauty of New Zealand’s native flora. Our garden architecture draws on the restraint and refinement of Japanese design, while our planting evokes the lushness of Balinese gardens, reinterpreted with New Zealand native plants.

Style, function and beauty find balance in intimate gardens and courtyards. Our projects often incorporate outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, play structures, swimming pools, wellness spaces, bespoke furniture and sculpture — all reflecting Pollen’s philosophy of integrated landscape design.

What We Do

We assist with resource consent requirements, providing practical, considered landscape solutions and meaningful mitigation of development impacts.

Our approach is resourceful and environmentally responsible, drawing on 35 years of design experience, extensive knowledge of native plants and ecology, and an understanding of how people use and experience space. We bring our commercial experience in biophilic design to create landscapes that are good for people and our world.

Using 3D visualisation, we bring concepts to life, allowing clients to explore, understand and refine their landscape before construction begins.

From concept design to detailed documentation, contractor tendering and project management, Pollen offers a flexible, practical and cost-conscious approach. Our designs can be realised in full or implemented progressively over time.

For an outdoor space that makes you feel better.

Concept design packages typically include a site plan identifying materials and finishes, a high-level planting plan and 2-3 perspective renderings, similar to those featured in the carousel above.

Packages start at NZ$3,950 + GST.
